This is the first year homeschooling all of my girls... so far I've been so nervous, Googling every thing I possibly could to ensure me doing this the "Right Way". I have finally reached the end of the first semester and I have too say I'm relieved!!
When originally deciding to embark on this journey I was met with plenty of nay sayers; and still am. Hubby and I made the decision to home-school after Bri (our eldest) kept coming home and proclaiming that she had learned nothing that day How did you go to school all day and learn Nothing?!!
That bothered sooo much! That launched a series of questions in my mind.... Are we doing the right thing by sending them away from us everyday? Is it our responsibility as parents to educate our kids? Do I really want to go against the grain?
All these thoughts flooded my mind prior to making this life changing decision. In the end I came to the conclusion that my kids were too important to me to hand over to the public school system, a system that kicks God out, a system that still teaches that Christopher Columbus discovered America.
This semester we covered the basics of course: Reading, Writing & Arithmetic, as we always will.
In addition to that we covered the solar system during science and we studied Ancient Egypt.
During our unit study of Ancient Egypt we got to explore the first form of writing :cuneiform.
The girls got to make clay tablets made from flour I had in my cabinet, then discussed the story of Moses.
My little brother ,upon completing his tablet says "wow! I'm in the 5th grade and thy haven't taught me anything about this or Mesopotamia yet , can I be home-schooled?"
That just confirmed in my spirit that I was doing the right thing.
Why didn't I think of this sooner?

A little about us
Long before I started a family of my own I often spent every waking hour with my little sister.
We went through grade school together, child birth together, worked together, then college together.
I try to avoid being away from her for lengthy periods of time because she's some what of my moral compass lol. We are 2years apart but it feels like we're the same age.
You'll be hearing alot about her
Steph and I
These are my girls.

Tia is 5yrs old and Bri is 8
Kiki is 6, about to be 7 in a few weeks

The greatest boy in the world.....Stephan!!!!

Lights Out!
My Dear Grandma, whom we affectionately call GumGum is a nut case. I think that she was the ghost writer for that Trace Adkin song "Every Light In The House Is On".
This is the light thats been in our kitchen for the past 3 years. It definitely packs a punch. GG refuses to let anyone cut it off. Night time, day time its on. God forbid you turn it off she says we're trying to kill her. Me in particular.

It doesnt end there. The upstairs light has to stay on and so does the porch light.
For those of you who dont know, I just had a baby 15days ago. 2 days ago at 5am I heard a loud banging on the wall, so I jumped up to see what was going on. The upstairs light had burnt out and now GG was on the war path. She caught herself trying to be Sherlock Holmes and investigating this heinous crime. I was the prime suspect. She said she knows it was me because I want her dead so I can take her room, not only that, but so that I can throw parties without her talking smack.(never mind the fact that im married w/5 kids) After 2 min of deep contemplation she says "oh it couldnt've been you, you just had a baby". WTF?!?! This comes 5 days after the huge light in the kitchen burns out (a case in which I was undoubtly a suspect but the evidence was PURELY circumstantial and..... we didnt change the bulbs for 3 years).
- Your room isnt big enough to get me to commit murder,
- Where would my kids be through these parties you speak of?
- Why the hell do you need the light on during the day? Its DAY!!
IDK I'm Confused as hell
